Facing a Dental Emergency?
Dental emergencies can be very painful and interrupt your daily activities. Here are some dental emergencies that we can assist you with:
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Pain from wisdom teeth
- Swollen or infected gums
- Toothaches
- Loose fillings or crowns
- Broken dentures
We welcome both same-day and walk-in appointments. If the accident occurs outside of office hours, you can leave a voice mail (checked daily) or visit your local emergency room. Leaving issues such as these untreated can increase the risk of developing serious infections or other health problems. Please give us a call at our El Paso Dental Office at 915-921-6200 as soon as possible.
Why Should I See Edgemere Dental Instead of the Emergency Room?
Emergency room physicians are skilled at addressing health concerns not related to dental problems. They can give you pain relief, but they can’t help you restore your damaged tooth. They also will not be able to properly diagnose tooth pain in order to resolve the issue. Edgemere Dental will be able to relieve tooth pain, diagnose the problem, and resolve the issue quickly. It will also save you the added pain, time, and money of visiting the emergency room. Instead, come to our emergency dental care office in East El Paso to resolve the emergency quickly and easily.
Have a Dental Emergency? We’re Here to Help.

What to Do In Case of a Dental Emergency
When you or someone you know has experienced a dental problem or oral injury, it’s important to know if you need emergency dental care immediately and if your dental plan will cover you. Not all dental problems will be emergencies, however. Loose teeth, toothache, chipped tooth or broken tooth, or pain from a dental crown could be mean a serious dental problem, but not necessarily emergencies, so it’s best to consider your options in advance.
Am I having a Dental Emergency?
Not all dental problems will require you to seek same-day emergency dental care. In cases where one or more teeth have been knocked out, your mouth has been severely injured, or a tooth abscess is leading to a lot of pain, you probably need to be seen by our dentist immediately.
Serious dental injuries or problems can lead to even worse oral health problems if not treated by a dentist immediately. On the other hand, a filling that has fallen out, a minor chipped tooth, or a broken wire on braces, cause oral issues that could wait until your dentist has an available appointment, but always talk to our staff right here in El Paso, TX for instructions on what action to take next.
Broken or Knocked-out Tooth
If you have chipped, broken, or lost a tooth it’s important not to touch the root. Make sure to handle the tooth by the crown (top of the tooth) only. Apply a cold compress to the affected area in order to reduce swelling of the tooth or gums. If the damaged or knocked-out tooth is a baby tooth there will be no need to save the tooth.
Try rinsing the tooth carefully in milk or saline and place the tooth in a small container or sealed zip-lock bag with the same solution you used to clean the tooth. Bring your tooth in with you to our East El Paso, TX dental office so our highly trained and professional staff can determine if the tooth is salvageable. If you have noticed soreness, pain, or anything else that makes your teeth or gums uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to Contact Us and schedule an appointment.
Other Dental Emergencies
Pain in your teeth, gums, and surrounding tissue can sometimes be unbearable. Toothaches can occur for several different oral health reasons including severe trauma to the mouth. Sometimes, a toothache will occur that is difficult to pinpoint the exact location easily or attribute the pain to a traumatic event.
Tooth pain can occur when consuming cold food or drink and also can produce an uncomfortable feeling while drinking or eating something hot. These signs and symptoms may indicate tooth decay, exposed tooth dentin, worn tooth enamel from grinding teeth, cracked filling, and more. Often, the oral health issue causing the pain or sensitivity has existed before feeling the pain such as in the decay of tooth pulp. Contact our dentist today to eliminate the dental pain symptoms that are causing discomfort in your life.
